Dont Ask 03:51
You said if I got clean you’d take another walk with me I’ve got no more reason not to my new place has got a view smoking camels on the roof while I sit here waiting on you Don’t ask for much, don’t ask for much, don’t ask for much Fighter planes and wireless getting sleep and getting fed A little air and time in the sun Woke up aching in my bed with your voice stuck in my head Now the question’s hanging on you Don’t ask for much, don’t ask for much, don’t ask for much when all I see closing in on me I can’t be rushed go on rip me open I’m not for sale anymore go on rip me open I’m not for sale anymore Don’t ask for much, don’t ask for much, don’t ask for much When all I see closing in on me, I can’t be rushed When all I see closing in on me, I can’t be rushed

you better run for your life like I ran from mine you take my advice if you don’t mind losing through the Berlin streets like a two bit thief why you so surprised it makes you feel alive it was just yesterday you thought you had it made living high but as these things sometimes do the weather changed on you you’re out of time leave the lights on when you’re not home so they don’t know you’re gone you don’t stop running when you get tired of running, of running leave the lights on when you’re not home so they don’t know you’re gone you better run for your life run while you’re still young cause I’d do anything to keep you alive it was just yesterday you thought you had it made living high but as these things sometimes do the weather changed on you you’re out of time leave the lights when you’re not home so they don’t know you’re gone you don’t stop running when you get tired of running, of running leave the lights on when you’re not home so they don’t know you’re gone you don’t stop running when you get tired stop when you know you’re gone you better run for your life like I ran from mine you take my advice if you don’t mind losing

i can see it clear clear as the daylight don’t stop when I say stop whenever you like could see it from here could see that you want her well you could have me whenever you want I get so tired of it, I get so tired of it the way the sun hits your face you look so pure and I ache I don’t want to be me don’t want to be you been watching the vultures on the roadside to see how they do it I started leaning in, leaning into your blows be careful what you get used to, you just might get used to it and I’ve grown so tired of it, yes I’ve grown so tired of it the way the sun hits your face you look so pure oh how I love watching you go but there’s so much about you I don’t understand like why you dance in your underpants but it’s a relief watching you go it feels just like I’m dying watching you go I’m a beetle in a jar, I’m not getting very far Sick of cleaning up your mess, I’ve got no more feelings left I would feel bad for you, if you didn’t act so cruel I’m a beetle in a jar, I’m not going very far

about

Katie Burden's stylized atmospheric rock and shamanistic delivery often conjure up the ghost of Jim Morrison but in a modern context, falls somewhere between Bat for Lashes and Joan as Police Woman.

After being Raised in a small hippy town in Colorado, Burden spent her formative years bouncing around NYC and later San Francisco. In 2012 she moved to LA and after attending a meditation retreat, synchronistically fell in with a group of blue chip musicians including drummer/producer Norm Block (Mark Lanegan, Jennylee of Warpaint and Plexi) and guitarist Jen Turner of Here We Go Magic and Explanation Pony. Katie happened to have hundreds of song sketches recorded as voice memos on her phone and after she played them for her new friends there was no looking back. Block stepped into the roles of Producer while turner helped flesh out the recordings that became Burden's debut EP My BLind Eye.

Upon her return of promoting that Ep she felt pulled back into the studio where she began tracking her follow up full length Strange Moon again at Block's Happy Ending Studios, Silverlake, with her new tightly knit band of collaborators. The dark and moody undercurrents of the new material called for Burden to dig deeper into her emotional well, something that she struggled with when performing the songs. "I have a hard time feeling emotions sometimes" the songwriter notes. "Art makes me less afraid to feel and also less alone."
